Glenwood Springs residents will have a chance to ask questions and share feedback directly with city police and fire leaders during the city’s upcoming State of Public Safety event on Wednesday, June 10.
The free community event will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and socializing, with presentations beginning at 6 p.m.
The city says RSVPs are strongly encouraged to help ensure enough food is available. Community members can RSVP and submit questions in advance at gwsco.info/sops26.
Spanish interpretation and childcare will be provided.
Police and Fire Leaders to Take Questions
The evening will begin with brief remarks from Chief of Public Safety Joseph Deras, followed by rotating, interactive question-and-answer sessions with leaders from the city’s police and fire departments.
Residents will have the opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and share feedback on a wide range of public safety topics, including emergency preparedness, fire mitigation, home hardening, evacuation planning, enforcement, speed cameras, Flock cameras, homelessness, and public safety funding.
The event is designed to give residents a more direct way to talk with city public safety officials about the issues affecting neighborhoods, roads, homes, businesses, and community spaces.
Written Feedback Available
City officials said residents who may not feel comfortable speaking in front of a group will still have multiple ways to participate.
Written feedback opportunities will be available during the event, and questions or comments may also be submitted in advance through the RSVP form at gwsco.info/sops26.
