Glenwood Springs residents are invited to a State of Public Safety forum on June 10. The free event will feature interactive Q&A sessions with police and fire leaders on topics including wildfire preparedness, homelessness, speed cameras, and public safety funding.
Community members can meet directly with police and fire leaders to discuss emergency preparedness, wildfire mitigation, homelessness, and more.
Residents of Glenwood Springs will have an opportunity to hear directly from local public safety officials and ask questions about some of the community's most pressing concerns during the City's upcoming State of Public Safety event on Wednesday, June 10.
The free community event will take place at the Glenwood Springs Community Center from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and informal conversation, with presentations beginning at 6 p.m.
City officials say the event is designed to create an open dialogue between residents and leaders from the Glenwood Springs Police and Fire Departments. The evening will begin with remarks from Chief of Public Safety Joseph Deras before transitioning into a series of interactive question-and-answer sessions.
Rather than a traditional presentation format, attendees will rotate through discussion stations where they can engage directly with police and fire department leaders, ask questions, and provide feedback on issues affecting the community.
Topics planned for discussion include emergency preparedness, wildfire mitigation, home hardening strategies, evacuation planning, law enforcement, speed cameras, Flock camera technology, homelessness, and public safety funding.
The event comes as communities across Colorado continue to prepare for wildfire season while also navigating broader conversations around public safety, technology, and community services. Glenwood Springs residents will have the opportunity to learn more about current initiatives while sharing concerns and priorities directly with city officials.
For residents who may not feel comfortable speaking in a public setting, the city will also provide opportunities to submit written comments and questions during the event. Questions and feedback can also be submitted in advance through the event registration page.
Spanish interpretation services and childcare will be available to help make the event accessible to a broader range of community members.
While attendance is free and open to everyone, city officials are encouraging residents to RSVP in advance to help organizers plan for food and refreshments.
