A little Shakespeare, a little Dr. Seuss and an afternoon outdoors: Theatre in the Park returns Saturday, September 19, with a free performance at Watson Island Amphitheater in Grand Junction.

Activities begin at noon, followed at 1 p.m. by The Theatre Project’s production of Seusspeare: Much Ado About Everything. The family-friendly, one-act show combines Shakespearean comedy with the playful language and silliness associated with Dr. Seuss.

The amphitheater is south of the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens. Bring a blanket or low-back lawn chair for seating. A local food truck will have snacks available for purchase, though admission to the event is free.

The City of Grand Junction and the Grand Junction Commission on Arts & Culture are hosting the event in collaboration with The Theatre Project. The local nonprofit community theatre company offers theatre and musical theatre education, along with performance opportunities for people of all ages.

For families looking for a Saturday outing, the afternoon offers a chance to see a local production without buying tickets or committing to a full-length play.
