Drivers in Grand Junction should plan for several road closures and lane reductions during the week of March 9 as city and state construction projects continue across the area. Projects will affect portions of 25 Road, D ½ Road, downtown streets near I-70 Business Loop, and the eastbound bridge on Highway 340.
Four Canyons Parkway Project
As part of the ongoing Four Canyons Parkway project, 25 Road will be closed between F ½ Road and Waite Avenue. A temporary roadway is in place for construction traffic, and drivers traveling near the area should proceed with caution.
D ½ Road Capacity Improvements
Construction work to expand capacity on D ½ Road will require a full closure between 29 Road and 30 Road. In addition, San Juan access to D ½ Road will be closed. Drivers are advised to use 29 ½ Road south to D Road as a detour. The area will remain open to local traffic only.
CDOT I-70 Business Loop Phase 7 Construction
The Colorado Department of Transportation continues work on the I-70B Phase 7 project, bringing several traffic impacts in the downtown corridor.
5th Street will be closed between Ute Avenue and Colorado Avenue throughout the week. Additional traffic impacts include:
- Single-lane and shoulder closures on Ute and Pitkin avenues between 3rd and 6th streets
- Ongoing closures along portions of Ute Avenue
- 4th Street reduced to a single lane between Colorado Avenue and Pitkin Avenue
Despite the construction, access to businesses and residences will remain open.
CO 340 Resurfacing Project
CDOT crews are also continuing resurfacing work along Colorado Highway 340, where single right-lane closures will occur on the eastbound bridge.
Work is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Plan Ahead
Drivers should allow extra travel time, watch for changing traffic patterns, and follow posted detours and signage near work zones.
City officials encourage residents to slow down in construction areas to protect workers and other drivers.
