Drivers heading through Grand Junction the week of Sept. 14 will encounter road closures around the Four Canyons Parkway project, restricted access to San Juan Street and lane reductions downtown. In the Redlands, roundabout construction at 23 Road and Broadway continues to close Alcove Drive at 23 Road.
Allow extra time near work zones and follow posted detours, signs and directions from traffic control personnel.
Four Canyons Parkway: Closures along 25 Road
Two sections of 25 Road remain closed: between Flat Top Lane/Foresight Circle and Blichmann Avenue, and between Blichmann Avenue and F ½ Road.
Drivers can use 25 Road in both directions between Patterson Road and Flat Top Lane, but that stretch has a gravel surface. Northbound traffic on 24 ¾ Road cannot pass through Four Canyons Parkway.
F ¼ Road is also closed to through traffic between 25 Road and Zenith Lane. Resident access remains available.
D ½ Road: Use the detour to reach San Juan Street
D ½ Road is closed between 29 Road and 30 Road, with local traffic access maintained. However, drivers cannot enter or leave San Juan Street at its intersection with D ½ Road.
To reach San Juan Street, follow the detour using 29 ½ Road from D Road.
Crosby Avenue: Local and business access remains open
Crosby Avenue is closed between West Main Street and American Way for the improvements project. Business and local traffic access will be maintained; follow the posted detours through the area.
Downtown: Lane reductions on Fifth and Fourth streets
CDOT’s Ute and Pitkin improvements project will reduce Fifth Street to one lane between South Avenue and Colorado Avenue. Fourth Street will also be reduced to a single lane between Colorado Avenue and Pitkin Avenue.
Ute and Pitkin avenues will have single-lane and shoulder closures between Third and Sixth streets.
Business and residential access will remain open, along with parking and alley access. For project questions, call 970-880-0688 or email I70bthirdstreet@gmail.com.
Redlands: Alcove Drive closure at 23 Road
Construction of the 23 Road and Broadway roundabout keeps Alcove Drive closed at 23 Road for the duration of the project. Use Vista Grande Road or Columbine Drive to reach 23 Road.
Colorado Highway 340 will remain open to two-way traffic, with a 35 mph speed limit through the work zone. Sidewalk access will be maintained, but pedestrians should stay clear of active construction areas. Drivers should expect delays.
