Drivers across Grand Junction should prepare for continued construction impacts and several new traffic restrictions during the week of June 8 as city and state transportation projects move forward throughout the community.

Major work zones will affect key corridors including Patterson Road, 25 Road, D ½ Road, Riverside Parkway, Redlands Parkway, and portions of Highway 340. Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use alternate routes when possible.

Major City Construction Projects

Four Canyons Parkway Project

Construction continues on the Four Canyons Parkway project with significant traffic impacts in the northwest area of the city.

  • 25 Road remains closed between Blichmann Avenue and Waite Avenue.
  • Northbound traffic on 24 ¾ Road is closed beginning at Apex Avenue.
  • Detours and lane shifts remain in place near the intersection of 25 Road and Patterson Road.

D ½ Road Capacity Improvements

Work continues on roadway improvements designed to increase capacity along D ½ Road.

  • D ½ Road remains closed between 29 Road and 30 Road.
  • Local traffic access will be maintained.
  • Access between San Juan Street and D ½ Road remains closed.
  • Drivers can access San Juan Street via 29 ½ Road from D Road.

Crosby Avenue Improvements

Crosby Avenue remains closed between West Main Street and American Way while roadway improvements continue.

Business access and local traffic access will remain available throughout construction.

Aspen Street Waterline Replacement

Aspen Street remains closed between Unaweep Avenue and Highway 50 while crews replace aging water infrastructure.

Detours are posted throughout the area.

Patterson Road Construction Zones

Several projects will affect travel along Patterson Road throughout the week.

Recreation Center Sidewalk Improvements

Pedestrian improvements near Matchett Parkway continue with sidewalk closures on both sides of Patterson Road.

  • North-side sidewalk closed between 28 ¼ Road and 28 ¾ Road.
  • South-side sidewalk closed between 28 ¼ Road and Legends Way.
  • Pedestrian detours remain in place.
  • Lane shifts continue in the area.

Patterson Road Sidewalk Project

Eastbound Patterson Road traffic between 24 ½ Road and 25 ½ Road will encounter lane closures and lane shifts throughout the week.

Additional shoulder closures and lane shifts will occur near the intersection of Patterson Road and 25 Road.

Nighttime Lane Closures Planned

The city's CIPP sewer lining project will require overnight lane restrictions.

  • Eastbound right lane closure at Patterson Road and 29 Road on Wednesday, June 10.
  • Westbound right lane closure at Patterson Road and 8th Court on Thursday, June 11.
  • Work hours are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Bridge Inspection to Affect Redlands Parkway

A routine bridge inspection on Redlands Parkway near the Colorado River is scheduled for Thursday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

During the inspection:

  • Traffic will be reduced to a single lane controlled by flaggers.
  • Pedestrian and bicycle access across the bridge will be closed.
  • Detours will be provided.
  • Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes.

Riverside Parkway Repairs Begin

Repairs between Dos Rios Drive and the 5th Street bridge will begin Monday, June 8.

One lane in each direction will remain open, but motorists should expect lane restrictions and periodic pedestrian and bicycle detours.

State Highway Projects Continue

I-70 Business Loop Improvements

CDOT's Ute and Pitkin Avenue improvement project continues in downtown Grand Junction.

Current impacts include:

  • 5th Street reduced to one lane between South Avenue and Colorado Avenue.
  • Single-lane and shoulder closures on Ute Avenue and Pitkin Avenue between 3rd Street and 6th Street.
  • 4th Street reduced to a single lane between Colorado Avenue and Pitkin Avenue.

Business, residential, alley, and parking access will remain open during construction.

Highway 340 Overlay Project

CDOT crews continue resurfacing work along Highway 340 between Redlands Parkway and Grand Avenue.

  • Overnight lane closures will occur in both directions across the Highway 340 bridge.
  • Work hours are 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday.

23 Road and Broadway Roundabout

Construction continues on the new roundabout at 23 Road and Broadway.

  • Alcove Drive remains closed at 23 Road.
  • Access is available via Vista Grande Road or Columbine Drive.
  • Highway 340 remains open to two-way traffic with a reduced 35 mph speed limit through the work zone.
  • Sidewalk access remains available.

Plan Ahead

With multiple major projects underway simultaneously, drivers across Grand Junction should anticipate delays, especially along Patterson Road, Redlands Parkway, Highway 340, and in downtown construction areas.

Residents are encouraged to follow posted detours, obey work zone speed limits, and allow additional travel time throughout the week.
