Free Tree Seedlings Available in Grand Junction for Arbor Day 2026
Grand Junction residents can receive free tree seedlings for Arbor Day 2026. Sign up starting April 10 for home delivery on April 21, or pick up seedlings April 25 at Lincoln Park during Southwest Arbor Fest. Supplies are limited.
Grand Junction residents will have multiple opportunities to plant new trees this spring as the City’s Parks and Recreation Forestry Division launches its annual Arbor Day seedling giveaway program.
Starting Friday, April 10 at 9 a.m., residents can sign up for the popular Seedling Delivery Program, which brings free tree seedlings directly to homes across the city. The program is part of a broader effort to expand Grand Junction’s urban tree canopy and encourage community participation in local environmental stewardship.
Seedling Delivery Program Opens April 10
The delivery program allows residents to request tree seedlings that will be dropped off at their doorstep on Tuesday, April 21. The service is limited to the first 200 households within city limits and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participants can select from a limited number of available tree species when signing up. Due to high demand each year, city officials recommend registering as early as possible.
City Forester and Open Space Supervisor Rob Davis emphasized the program’s community impact, noting that it not only supports tree planting efforts but also creates a meaningful, hands-on experience for residents.
Volunteer Opportunities Available
Community members who want to get involved beyond planting can volunteer to help sort and deliver seedlings on the morning of April 21.
Volunteers play a key role in making the program possible and help ensure seedlings reach homes efficiently across the city. Those interested can contact the Forestry Division directly to sign up.
Additional Seedlings Available at Arbor Fest
For residents who miss the delivery program, additional seedlings will be available during the Southwest Arbor Fest on Saturday, April 25 at Lincoln Park.
Distribution begins at 9 a.m. and is limited to two trees per household, with seedlings available while supplies last. This event provides another accessible option for residents to participate in Arbor Day celebrations and contribute to the city’s growing tree canopy.
Supporting a Greener Grand Junction
Programs like the Arbor Day seedling giveaway reflect a broader effort to invest in long-term environmental health, neighborhood shade coverage, and community well-being.
By making tree planting accessible and community-driven, the City of Grand Junction continues to build a more resilient and livable environment—one tree at a time.
