Drivers across Grand Junction should plan for multiple road closures, lane reductions, and detours during the week of April 13, as several city and state projects continue.

The City of Grand Junction and Colorado Department of Transportation both have active projects that may impact daily commutes, especially on key corridors.


City of Grand Junction projects with travel impacts

Four Canyons Parkway Project

  • 25 Road closed from Blichmann to Waite Avenue until early May
  • 24 ¾ Road closed from Apex Avenue to northbound traffic
  • Temporary roadway in place, use caution
  • Detours are in place

D 1/2 Road Capacity Improvements

  • D ½ Road closed from 29 Road to 30 Road
  • San Juan access to D ½ Road closed
  • Use 29 ½ Road south to D Road as a detour
  • Open to local traffic only

Patterson Road at Matchett Park

  • Sidewalk closed on the north side of Patterson Road between 28 1/4 and 28 3/4 Roads
  • Pedestrian detours in place for the duration of the project

Traffic impacts beginning Monday:

  • Lane shifts expected
  • Westbound Patterson will see delays starting Monday morning
  • Alternate routes may be advised

South Broadway and 23 Road Roundabout

  • 23 Road closed between Broadway and South Broadway
  • Detours in place

Lead Waterline Replacement

  • Colorado Avenue closed from 9th Street to 10th Street
  • Open to local traffic only

Non-city projects with travel impacts

CDOT I-70B Phase 7 Construction

  • 5th Street reduced to one lane between South Avenue and Colorado Avenue all week
  • Single lane and shoulder closures on Ute and Pitkin between 3rd and 6th Streets
  • Ongoing closures on Ute Avenue
  • 4th Street reduced to one lane between Colorado Avenue and Pitkin Avenue
  • Business and residential access will remain open

CDOT CO 340 Resurfacing Project

  • Single right lane closures on the eastbound bridge
  • Work hours: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday

  • Detours and rerouted traffic
  • Lane reductions on major roads
  • Delays during peak travel times
  • Increased congestion near construction zones
