Montrose residents have an easy and environmentally responsible way to dispose of their Christmas trees once the holiday season wraps up. The City of Montrose will begin its annual Christmas tree pickup service on Monday, January 5, with collections continuing through Thursday, January 15.

During this period, residents can schedule a pickup by contacting the Public Works office at 970.240.1480. After the initial request window, Public Works crews will complete a street-by-street, city-wide sweep to collect any remaining eligible trees, with all cleanup concluding by January 15.

To ensure pickup, residents should place their Christmas trees behind the curb in front of their homes. Trees collected through this program are either mulched or donated to local farmers for animal feed, supporting waste reduction and local reuse efforts.

Only natural trees are accepted. Artificial trees, as well as natural trees that have been treated with artificial snow or still contain decorations such as ornaments or tinsel, will not be collected.

The Christmas tree pickup service is provided free of charge to City of Montrose residents. For scheduling assistance or additional details, residents are encouraged to contact Public Works directly at 970.240.1480. More information about city services is available at CityofMontrose.org.
