A Legacy of Service on the Western Slope

For more than 75 years, Hilltop Community Resources has been at the heart of Colorado’s Western Slope—connecting people, strengthening families, and creating opportunities for everyone to belong.
Founded in 1950 and headquartered in Grand Junction, Hilltop is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates with a clear mission:

“We create connection to build a community where everyone belongs.”

That vision guides every aspect of Hilltop’s work—from supporting new parents and youth, to empowering adults through life transitions, to ensuring seniors age with dignity and community. Hilltop is one of the region’s most trusted human-service organizations, offering a continuum of care that touches thousands of lives each year across Mesa, Montrose, Delta, and Garfield Counties.

Programs That Strengthen Every Stage of Life

Hilltop’s services span the full human journey—helping individuals and families access the resources they need to live healthy, stable, and connected lives.

Youth & Family Services

Hilltop provides critical support to children, parents, and caregivers through early childhood programs, youth mentoring, and family resource centers. Services include:

  • Therapy and counseling for youth and families navigating trauma or mental-health challenges
  • Prenatal and parenting education to strengthen home environments
  • Home-visiting programs connecting young families to local resources and support networks

These initiatives focus on prevention and resilience, ensuring that every child in western Colorado has a chance to thrive.

Adult Services

For working-age adults, Hilltop offers programs that restore stability and self-reliance:

  • Brain injury services providing therapy, vocational rehabilitation, and community reintegration
  • Domestic violence and housing support, helping survivors find safety and new beginnings
  • Case management and healthcare access for adults navigating complex life transitions

By combining compassionate care with practical support, Hilltop helps people move from crisis to confidence.

Senior & Assisted Living Communities

Hilltop’s senior programs embody the belief that aging should happen in community, not in isolation.

Through independent living, assisted living, and memory-care residences, Hilltop’s senior living team provides:

  • 24-hour personal care in home-like environments
  • Respite and caregiver support for families
  • Engaging activities that nurture connection, dignity, and purpose

From The Fountains to The Commons, Hilltop’s facilities are recognized as some of the Western Slope’s most respected senior communities.

Leadership, Values, and Impact

Hilltop’s leadership team brings decades of experience in community health, social work, and nonprofit management. CEO Mike Stahl and President Will Hays lead a team that includes CFO Ashley Guggemos, COO Jed Balestrieri, CPO Rebecca Weitzel, and senior program VPs Angie Wickersham and Hollie VanRoosendaal. Together, they embody Hilltop’s six core values: relationship, courage, growth, integrity, inclusivity, and fun.

Their collective impact is tangible. Each year, Hilltop’s programs:

  • Serve thousands of Western Slope residents in need of stability and connection
  • Provide hundreds of volunteer placements and service-learning opportunities
  • Keep every dollar raised local, reinvesting in the communities they serve

Transparency and community trust have made Hilltop a cornerstone of regional wellbeing and a model for place-based impact.
