Drivers should expect delays on Crosby Avenue, Four Canyons Parkway, D ½ Road, Highway 340, and several CDOT construction zones.

Motorists traveling through Grand Junction should continue planning for delays during the week of July 13, 2026, as multiple City of Grand Junction and Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) construction projects remain underway. Several roads are closed to through traffic, lane reductions are in effect across the city, and overnight work continues on Highway 340.

Here's what drivers need to know before heading out.

Crosby Avenue Improvements

The Crosby Avenue Improvements Project continues with Crosby Avenue closed between W. Main Street and American Way.

Local traffic and business access will remain available, but through traffic should use alternate routes.

Four Canyons Parkway Project

Construction continues to reshape traffic patterns around the Four Canyons Parkway corridor.

Current restrictions include:

  • 25 Road remains closed between Flat Top Lane/Foresight Circle and Blichmann Avenue.
  • 25 Road also remains closed between Blichmann Avenue and F ½ Road.
  • F ¼ Road is closed to through traffic between 25 Road and Zenith Lane. Residents will continue to have access.
  • Two-way traffic remains open on 25 Road between Patterson Road and Flat Top Lane on a temporary gravel surface.
  • Northbound traffic on 24 ¾ Road can no longer travel through Four Canyons Parkway.

Drivers should expect changing traffic patterns and allow extra travel time through the area.

D ½ Road Capacity Improvements

Work continues on the D ½ Road Capacity Improvements Project.

Current impacts include:

  • D ½ Road is closed between 29 Road and 30 Road.
  • Local access will be maintained.
  • San Juan Street is closed at its intersection with D ½ Road.
  • Drivers can access San Juan Street via 29 ½ Road from D Road using the signed detour.

Patterson Road and 28 ½ Road

Improvements continue near the entrance to the Grand Junction Recreation Center.

Current conditions include:

  • Sidewalks on both the north and south sides of Patterson Road are now open between 28 ¼ Road and 28 ¾ Road (Legends Parkway).
  • Pedestrians crossing Patterson Road should continue using the crossing at 28 ¼ Road.
  • Lane closures remain in place.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.

CDOT: Ute & Pitkin Improvements (I-70 Business Loop)

CDOT continues improvements east of Third Street with several lane reductions:

  • 5th Street is reduced to one lane between South Avenue and Colorado Avenue.
  • Single-lane and shoulder closures continue on Ute Avenue and Pitkin Avenue between 3rd Street and 6th Street.
  • 4th Street is reduced to one lane between Colorado Avenue and Pitkin Avenue.

Business, residential, alley, and parking access remain open throughout construction.

Residents with questions can contact the project team at 970-880-0688 or I70bthirdstreet@gmail.com.

Highway 340 Overnight Paving

CDOT continues resurfacing Highway 340 between Redlands Parkway and Grand Avenue.

Motorists should expect:

  • Overnight lane closures in both directions across the Highway 340 bridge.
  • Work taking place Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Travelers should anticipate delays during overnight hours.

23 Road & Broadway Roundabout

Construction also continues on the new roundabout at 23 Road and Broadway.

Current impacts include:

  • Alcove Drive remains closed at 23 Road for the duration of the project.
  • Access is available via Vista Grande Road or Columbine Drive.
  • Highway 340 remains open with two-way traffic through the work zone at a reduced 35 mph speed limit.
  • Sidewalk access remains open, though pedestrians should stay clear of active construction areas.

Plan Ahead

With several major construction projects occurring simultaneously across Grand Junction, drivers should expect longer travel times, follow posted detours, and slow down in work zones to help keep construction crews and fellow travelers safe.
