Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Announces a Full Lineup of Holiday Events
Grand Junction Parks and Recreation is hosting a full lineup of holiday events, including the Candy Cane Hunt, Senior Holiday Light Tour, Chocolate Walk, and the Santa Cause Run. Families and residents of all ages are invited to celebrate the season and support community programs.
The City of Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department is inviting residents of all ages to take part in a series of holiday events throughout December. From family activities to senior outings and a festive community run, these gatherings offer opportunities to celebrate the season together.
The month begins with the 24th Annual Candy Cane Hunt on Saturday, December 6, at the Lincoln Park Barn. Check in opens at 10 a.m. and the hunt starts at 11 a.m. Families can enjoy cookies, crafts, and hot chocolate before kids search for candy canes around the park. This event is free and does not require preregistration.
For older adults, the Senior Holiday Light Tour will be offered on two evenings, Wednesday, December 10, and Wednesday, December 17. The evening begins at 5:15 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Barn, where participants can enjoy hot chocolate, treats, and festive entertainment before boarding a bus for a guided tour of holiday light displays around the city.
The bus returns around 8:15 p.m. Anyone age 50 or older is welcome to participate. This event fills up quickly and early registration is encouraged. Sign up at Senior Light Tour.
The Chocolate Walk is scheduled for Friday, December 12, offering a guided evening walk through downtown Grand Junction to experience lights, decorations, and seasonal charm. This event is already sold out, but residents may join the waitlist at Chocolate Walk.
The season wraps up with the 10th Annual Santa Cause Run, held in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction. The event takes place on Saturday, December 13, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Las Colinas Amphitheater.
Participants can choose between a 5K or 1K fun run in a festive holiday setting. Registration costs range from 20 to 40 dollars and must be completed by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10 at Santa Cause Run. Proceeds support inclusive playground equipment in local parks, including recent additions at Canyon View Park.
These events offer Grand Junction residents a chance to enjoy the holidays, support community programs, and gather with neighbors throughout the season.
