A mix of engines, helmets, and hands-on learning will take over the Mesa County Fairgrounds this weekend as the Grand Junction Police Department partners with Crime Stoppers of Mesa County to host the Annual Cycle Safety Fest and 4th Annual Crime Stoppers Car Show.

The free, family-friendly event takes place Saturday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., bringing together car enthusiasts, cyclists, motorcyclists, and local organizations for a day focused on safety, education, and community connection.

A Community Event Built Around Safety and Engagement

The event is designed to make safety approachable and interactive for all ages. Whether attendees arrive on two wheels or four, they’ll find opportunities to build skills, ask questions, and connect with local experts.

Cyclists and young riders can participate in bike rodeos and safety courses, while motorcycle riders can engage with demonstrations and safety tips from experienced professionals. The goal is simple: create a space where residents can learn practical safety habits in a fun, welcoming environment.

What to Expect at the Event

This year’s event features a wide range of activities and attractions throughout the fairgrounds:

• A large display of cars and motorcycles from local owners and enthusiasts
• Bike rodeo and hands-on safety courses for riders of all ages
• Bicycle and motorcycle demonstrations from local organizations
• Food trucks, vendors, and community resource booths
• A live Q&A session with GJPD Motor Officers Bavor and Soderquist
• A “touch-a-truck” experience featuring GJPD SWAT vehicles, the Bomb Squad, Mobile Incident Dispatch Truck, and more
• Car show awards presented by Crime Stoppers of Mesa County

The combination of interactive experiences and community resources makes the event accessible whether you’re looking to learn, explore, or simply spend time with family.

Car Show Participation and Community Involvement

Community members interested in showcasing their vehicles can register for the car show through Crime Stoppers of Mesa County. The event continues to grow each year, drawing a diverse mix of classic cars, custom builds, and motorcycles.

Organizers emphasize that the event is not just about showcasing vehicles, but about strengthening relationships between residents, local organizations, and public safety teams.
