Grand Junction’s largest Arbor Day celebration is returning later this month, bringing together environmental programs, free tree giveaways, recycling services, and live entertainment for a full day at Lincoln Park.

The Southwest Arbor Fest Presented by SavATree is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, offering a mix of hands-on activities and community-focused services designed to support sustainability across the Grand Valley.

Arbor Day Activities and Free Tree Programs

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and centers around the City’s broader effort to expand and protect the local tree canopy.

Residents can:

  • Take home a free tree seedling
  • Bid on larger containerized trees through a silent auction
  • Sign up for discounted ash tree treatment programs
  • Participate in guided tree tours and educational activities

The City’s Root for Our Trees program is also active this spring, offering cost-share treatment options to help protect ash trees from pests and drought conditions. Nearly 20 percent of Grand Junction’s tree canopy is made up of ash trees, making preservation a high priority.

In addition, a separate seedling delivery program will provide free trees directly to residents on April 21, with limited availability.

Free Electronic Waste Collection

A free electronic waste collection event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lincoln Park, giving residents a safe way to dispose of old electronics.

Accepted items include most consumer electronics, with fees applying only to larger televisions over 40 pounds.

The event is supported by multiple partners, including Mesa County, Goodwill of Colorado, Dell Reconnect, and the Bureau of Land Management.

Food, Beer, and Live Entertainment

Beyond environmental programming, Arbor Fest is designed as a full-day community event.

Additional features include:

  • Food trucks beginning at 11 a.m.
  • Craft beer tasting from noon to 4 p.m. (21+ ticketed event)
  • Live music and performances starting at noon

Theatre in the Park will also return as part of the entertainment lineup.

Why This Event Matters

Arbor Fest is a memorable celebration and it serves as a central hub for several of the City’s environmental programs, making it easier for residents to access services, learn about local initiatives, and take direct action.

From tree planting to responsible recycling, the event reflects a broader push to build long-term environmental resilience across Grand Junction.
