This week marks a critical follow-through period for regional stories in Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction. Here is how to track the progress and participate in these upcoming sessions.

1. The Glenwood Springs Appeal Watch

The seven-day window for ICE or their landlord to appeal the Planning and Zoning Commission’s permit revocation officially opened last Wednesday. If an appeal is filed, the case moves to the City Council for a public hearing.

  • In Person: City Council meetings are typically held at City Hall, 101 West 8th Street.
  • Virtual: Meetings are live-streamed on the City of Glenwood Springs YouTube channel.
  • Public Record: Check theAgendas and Minutes pageto see if an appeal has been officially added to a future agenda.

2. Grand Junction: Special Session and Workshop

Monday, May 4, features two distinct sessions for the Grand Junction City Council.

Special Meeting Executive Session (4:00 PM)

  • Focus: Confidential legal or property matters.
  • Access: This session is closed to the public per state law.

City Council Workshop (5:30 PM)

  • Focus: Camping on public property and the community survey.
  • In Person: Fire Department Training Room, 625 Ute Avenue.
  • Virtual: Register via the GoToWebinar link found at the top of the official agenda.
  • Input: While public comment is not usually taken during workshops, you can email City Council members or the City Manager before 3:00 PM on Monday to have your input distributed to the Council.

3. Mesa County Administrative Hearing

The Board of County Commissioners will hold its regular administrative hearing on Tuesday, May 5, at 9:00 AM.

  • In Person: 544 Rood Avenue, Public Hearing Room.
  • Virtual: A "Live Meeting" button appears on the Mesa County Public Hearing page when the session begins. You can also participate via Zoom (Meeting ID: 896 1946 4916).
  • Participation: If you cannot attend in person but wish to speak, complete the online participation form on the county website before the meeting starts.
