*Fourth Street in downtown Grand Junction stays closed through Nov. 20, Shavano Valley Road west of Montrose closes Monday for a culvert replacement, and Patterson Road drops to one westbound lane at 25 Road starting Monday in this rundown of road work for the weekend and the week of Nov. 9.*

Downtown, the Fourth Street closure between Ute and Pitkin avenues runs through Nov. 20, and COtrip now lists the single lane restrictions on Ute, Pitkin and Fifth Street through Nov. 15, a week longer than last week's listing.

On I-70, the daytime lane closures between Horizon Drive and Clifton are listed through 8 p.m. Friday, the Hanging Lake Tunnel lane closure was scheduled to end at noon Friday, and COtrip had nothing posted at either spot for the week of Nov. 9 when we read it Friday morning. CDOT has not announced that either job is finished.

Everything below comes from the city, county or state agency running the job, current as of Friday morning, Nov. 6, when we also read [COtrip](https://www.cotrip.org/?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) for state highway closures.

Road work across Mesa, Garfield and Montrose counties this weekend and the week of Nov. 9\. Highway lines approximate.

## Grand Junction

### Downtown: Fourth Street closed through Nov. 20

Fourth Street is closed between Ute and Pitkin avenues for CDOT's rebuild, with Third and Fifth streets as the alternates, according to the city's [weekly traffic update](https://www.gjcity.org/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/2310?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) posted Friday. [COtrip](https://www.cotrip.org/?ref=westernslopetrellis.com), updated Thursday, lists the full closure through Nov. 20\. Ute and Pitkin stay at a single lane between Third and Sixth streets, Fifth Street is one lane between South and Colorado avenues, and large vehicles cannot turn right from Ute onto Fifth; COtrip lists those restrictions through Nov. 15\. CDOT's [project line](https://www.codot.gov/projects/i70bgrandjunction?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) is 970-880-0688.

### Four Canyons Parkway: Patterson Road narrows Monday

Patterson Road will be reduced to a single westbound lane starting Monday, Nov. 9, while crews pave the turn lanes at 25 Road, and the city's [project page](https://www.gjcity.org/1213/Four-Canyons-Parkway-Project?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) expects that to last through the end of the week. The city's Friday traffic update also lists 25 Road as closed to southbound traffic between Flat Top Lane and Patterson Road, while the project page says 25 Road remains open to two-way traffic north of Patterson for business access. The two notices do not match, so follow the signs. Paving between Patterson Road and Flat Top Lane starts Nov. 16 and should take about a week.

### Around town

- Industrial Boulevard closes at 2457 Industrial Blvd. Monday through Wednesday, with businesses reachable from 24½ Road or 25 Road. This one is new.
- Westbound Patterson Road keeps its lane shift from Pheasant Trail Court through Beechwood Street, with the center turn lane closed.
- In the Redlands, Alcove Drive stays closed at 23 Road, and South Broadway is one lane with flaggers at South Camp Road during working hours.

Off the list: Crosby Avenue, D½ Road between 29 and 30 roads, the Main Street holiday light block closures and the 12th Street entrance to Stocker Stadium appeared in last week's update and are missing from Friday's. The city has posted no reopening notices.

## Mesa County

### I-70 Horizon Drive to Clifton: listed through Friday only

[COtrip](https://www.cotrip.org/?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) lists the right lane closed in both directions between Horizon Drive and Clifton, mile points 31 to 37, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, for paving, with a 12-foot width limit and delays of up to 15 minutes. No closures were listed there for the weekend or the week of Nov. 9 when we read COtrip Friday morning. CDOT's [resurfacing page](https://www.codot.gov/projects/i70horizoncliftonresurfacing?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) still shows the project running through November, with night work Sunday night through Friday morning, so lane closures can return. The project line is 970-639-0680.

### US 6, Palisade and county roads

US 6 east of Fruita had no closures listed on COtrip Friday morning, though CDOT's [project page](https://www.codot.gov/projects/us6mesaresurfacing?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) runs that job through November. In Palisade, the US 6 roundabout at Elberta Avenue is in its final phase, with Rupp Avenue closed at US 6 and Elberta closed at the south frontage road, and CDOT's [project page](https://www.codot.gov/projects/us6palisade?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) still says late 2026.

32½ Road stays closed between E Road and E½ Road in Clifton, local access only, until summer 2027, per [Mesa County](https://www.mesacounty.us/news/public-works/detour-during-32-12-rd-construction-begin-soon?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) (contractor line 970-644-6560), and Orchard Avenue work at 31 Road runs through late December, per the [county](https://www.mesacounty.us/news/public-works/construction-underway-orchard-avenue-safety-improvements?ref=westernslopetrellis.com). The county [said Nov. 2](https://www.mesacounty.us/news/public-works/weather-creates-challenging-conditions-construction-projects?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) that rain and flooding have delayed both jobs.

Off the list: the eastbound I-70 right lane closure near Loma was listed through Nov. 3 and no longer appears on COtrip. CDOT has posted no notice that the work is finished.

## Garfield County

### Glenwood Canyon

Westbound I-70 at the Hanging Lake Tunnel has its right lane closed between mile points 126 and 125 for tunnel maintenance Friday from 7 a.m. to noon, and [COtrip](https://www.cotrip.org/?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) listed nothing there for the week of Nov. 9 as of Friday morning. CDOT's [Oct. 12 advisory](https://www.codot.gov/news/2026/october-2026-news/i70-hanginglake-tunnel-emergency-repair-begin-oct6?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) scheduled the emergency door repair to finish by the end of October, and the agency has posted no completion notice. The hotline is 970-661-3086.

A regional note from outside the county: CO 82 over Independence Pass, in Pitkin and Lake counties, has been closed for the winter since Nov. 3, CDOT [said](https://www.codot.gov/news/2026/october-2026-news/co82-independencepass-close-for-winter?ref=westernslopetrellis.com). Denver area drivers headed to Aspen are sent west on I-70 to Glenwood Springs and south on CO 82.

- Whiteriver Avenue was closed between East Ninth and East 16th streets for guardrail and striping as of the [city's](https://www.rifleco.org/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/619?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) Oct. 26 update. The right-turn lane from northbound Highway 13 onto Whiteriver was scheduled to close Thursday, Nov. 5, through the end of that day, per a [notice](https://www.rifleco.org/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/625?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) posted Nov. 4.
- Megan Avenue's northbound lane between Airport Road and Last Chance Drive was due to stay closed about four weeks from Oct. 5, per the [city](https://www.rifleco.org/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/615?ref=westernslopetrellis.com), and no reopening notice is posted.

Done: the southbound Highway 13 Bypass near Railroad Avenue in Rifle reopened Monday afternoon, Nov. 2, after an asphalt patch, the [city](https://www.rifleco.org/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/623?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) said. Glenwood Springs has not revised its construction update since Oct. 19, and Garfield County Road and Bridge has no closures posted.

## Montrose County

### Shavano Valley Road closes Monday

Shavano Valley Road closes north of K57 Trail starting Monday, Nov. 9, while Montrose County Public Works replaces a culvert, and the project lasts through Nov. 27, the county [said Oct. 30](https://www.montrosecounty.net/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/1323?ref=westernslopetrellis.com). The notice does not specify a detour. Mike Hindson takes questions at 970-964-2448.

### West End flooding

Highway 90 was closed from the Utah state line to mile marker 10 and Roubideau Canyon Road was impassable because of flooding, Montrose County Road and Bridge [said Nov. 2](https://www.montrosecounty.net/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/1325?ref=westernslopetrellis.com). A 2:20 p.m. update that day added that U5 to Buckeye and U1 were closed and that Y11 River Road was open to high clearance vehicles. The county has posted nothing since. COtrip showed no closure on CO 90 Friday morning.

### 6000 Road, Ida Road and city streets

6000 Road is still listed as closed north of Banner Road, where high water damaged the shoulders, per the county's [Oct. 23 notice](https://www.montrosecounty.net/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/1318?ref=westernslopetrellis.com). Ida Road west of 6400 Road has been closed since Oct. 12 for a box culvert replacement the [county](https://www.montrosecounty.net/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/1310?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) expected to last about six weeks; Rich Rivera (970-252-7009) takes questions.

In the city of Montrose, a [Sept. 25 advisory](https://www.cityofmontrose.org/m/newsflash/Home/Detail/2312?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) projected mid-November closures of Cobble Drive and 6450 Road for asphalt patching, one road at a time, with no dates posted.

### Through traffic

US 50 from Grand Junction to Montrose and US 550 south are CDOT's posted Denver to Durango detour while flood damage keeps US 160 closed near Pagosa Springs, per the agency's [Nov. 5 release](https://www.codot.gov/news/2026/october-2026-news/swco-highways-flood-damage-detours?ref=westernslopetrellis.com), which points freight to CO 145 through Telluride. COtrip listed no closure on US 550 Friday morning.

## Looking ahead

For the week of Nov. 16, the posted items are Fourth Street through Nov. 20, Four Canyons Parkway paving from Nov. 16 and Shavano Valley Road through Nov. 27.

This post is built from the agency notices and COtrip listings we could find Friday morning, so it will miss short notice work and anything the agencies did not put online. For live conditions on the state highways, check [COtrip](https://www.cotrip.org/?ref=westernslopetrellis.com) or call 511 before you go.
