# Peaches, Sweet Corn, and the Grateful Dead: This Weekend on the Western Slope

Peach weekend. If you've been waiting all year for this one, it's here — and the Grateful Dead family rolled into Glenwood at the same time. Pace yourselves.

### MESA COUNTY

It's Peach Festival weekend in Palisade, which means half the valley is heading east on I-70 and the other half is trying to beat them to the orchard stands. Downtown Grand Junction has a free symphony concert Saturday night that's genuinely worth planning around.

**Friday, August 21**

- **2026 Palisade Peach Festival** — Riverbend Park, Palisade, 3–8 p.m. The big one. Peach-eating contest, live music, food trucks, and a marketplace full of local makers. Parking at Riverbend is handicapped-only; everyone else shuttles in, so give yourself a cushion.
- **Peachy Fest** — Mt. Lincoln Peach Company, 3703 F Rd, Palisade, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. (Friday and Saturday). The quieter, orchard-side version of peach weekend.
- **Mad Peach Market** — The Ordinary Fellow, 202 Peach Ave, Palisade, 4–8 p.m. An Alice-in-Wonderland-themed artisan market with 25+ local businesses, live music, and a Hawaiian street food truck.
- **Iridescence** — Avalon Theatre rooftop terrace, Grand Junction, 6–8 p.m. House music and a sunset on the roof. 18+.
- **Los Cuates de Sinaloa, Agrupación Clave 5, y más** — LUX Event Center, 9 p.m. $40.
- **Movie Night at Uncanny Valley** — Downtown Grand Junction, 8–10 p.m.
- **Massacre at the Mesa** — Mesa Theater, 538 Main St, 7–11 p.m.
- **Tarot Reading by Dawn** — Downtown Grand Junction, 1–4:30 p.m.

📚 **At the library:**

- **Friends of the Mesa County Libraries Weekend Book Sale**, First Congregational Church, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. — used books, DVDs and CDs at giveaway prices; cash, check or Venmo. Runs Saturday too.
- **For the little ones:** Preschool STEAM at the Central Library Community Room, 9:30–10 a.m.; a puppet show of Mo Willems' "Elephant & Piggie: A Big Guy Took My Ball!" at the Orchard Mesa Branch, 10–10:30 a.m.; Family Storytime at De Beque, 10–10:30 a.m., and at Collbran, 10:30–11 a.m.

🍷 **Wine country:**

- **Friday Evening in the Orchard** at Peachfork Orchards & Vineyards, 6–9 p.m. — a 21+ farm-to-fork dinner in the trees ($150, non-refundable).
- **Carboy Custom Blending Lab** at Carboy Winery at Mt. Garfield Estate, 5–8 p.m., blend your own and take six bottles home ($269).
- **David Testroet Comedy and Wine** at TerraVin Cellars, 6:30–8 p.m., $25.

**Saturday, August 22**

- **Palisade Peach Festival, Day 2** — Riverbend Park, 10 a.m.–8 p.m. Full day of it.
- **Peachy Fest** — Mt. Lincoln Peach Company, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
- **Farmers Market at Cross Orchards Historic Site** — 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Local produce, baked goods, crafts, and community tables on the historic grounds.
- **Saturday Morning Music Sessions** — Triple Play Records, 530 Main St, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Free, local, and a nice way to start the day downtown.
- **Rare Finds: History's Hidden Tracks** — Downtown Grand Junction, 1–3 p.m.
- **Evening Under the Stars** — Amphitheater at Las Colonias Park. The Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra's free community concert. Doors at 5 p.m., the Centennial Band opens at 6:30, and the full symphony takes the stage at 7:30\. Admission and parking are free but tickets are required, so reserve ahead.
- **Ecstatic Dance** — Lowell School House, 6–8 p.m.
- **Mini KISS** — Mesa Theater, 538 Main St, 8 p.m. Exactly what it sounds like.
- **90's Party with Ninety Percent 90's** — Warehouse25sixty-five Kitchen + Bar, 8:30–11 p.m. $13–35.
- **Matt Greenwaldt Comedy** — Gemini Beer Co., 7:30 p.m. (He's in Montrose Friday night, Grand Junction Saturday.)

🍷 **Wine country:**

- **Backyard Beats** at Carboy Winery at Mt. Garfield Estate — free live music every Saturday in the backyard.
- **Corks & Forks: The Art of the Pairing** at Colterris Collections, 3708 G Road, 6–9 p.m. — a special-edition Field to Fork night.
- **Saturday Evening in the Orchard** at Peachfork, 6–9 p.m., 21+ ($150).
- **Courtney Greiger** on the Purple Bee Patio, 213 Main St, Palisade, 6–9 p.m.

**Sunday, August 23**

- **Palisade Farmers Market** — Downtown Palisade, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. High Lonesome Ranch is a regular vendor with grass-finished beef.
- **Western Colorado Senior Games** — Final day. The 25th annual games run Aug 17–23 at venues around the valley.

### MONTROSE COUNTY

Football's back, the corn festival lands Saturday, and there's a sound bath at the Ute Indian Museum on Sunday if the weekend gets loud.

**Friday, August 21**

- **Friday Night Lights** — Montrose High School, 7 p.m. Red Hawks host the Durango Demons. Free admission and giveaways courtesy of DMEA and Elevate Internet.
- **Matt Greenwaldt Comedy** — Silver Basin Brewing, 7:30–9 p.m. $25.
- **Neon Sky Band** — The Rusty Putter, 1350 Birch St, 6:30 p.m. Live music on the patio, cold drinks, close out the summer.
- **Fridays on the Farm** — 67181 Trout Rd. Live music at the hop yard every Friday through the summer, with beer and wine from the vineyard next door and a rotating food truck.
- **U-Pick Sunflowers** — 13010 5875 Rd. Hundreds of blooms in multiple colors, cut your own.

**Saturday, August 22**

- **Olathe Sweet Corn Festival 2026** — Olathe Town Park, 10 a.m.–9 p.m. Corn-eating contest, beauty pageant, live music, vendors, food trucks and a beer garden. The Corny 5K Run/Walk starts separately at 9 a.m. from the Montrose Rotary Amphitheater — so if you're running, that's the address you want; everything else is in Olathe.
- **Montrose Farmers' Market** — Centennial Plaza, from 9 a.m. Year-round market; the summer season runs May through October.
- **Montrose Community Plant Sale** — Camelot Gardens, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Western Colorado Plant People meetup; bring a table if you've got plants to sell.
- **Larry Fredericksen Memorial Golf Tournament, 11th annual** — Cobble Creek Golf Course, 7:30 a.m. Benefits "Drive to End Homelessness."
- **Seeded to Bloom: Beyond Trafficking Gala** — Montrose Pavilion, 1800 Pavilion Dr, 4 p.m. Ticketed.
- **Opal Moon at the Saturday Night Dance** — Montrose Pavilion east entrance, 7 p.m. Live country, all ages, singles and couples welcome, $10, alcohol-free.

**Sunday, August 23**

- **The Turning: A Fall Full Moon Sound Journey** — Ute Indian Museum, 2–3 p.m. First in a new series with sound healing practitioner Gia Pirelli.

📚 **At the library:** Naturita branch hosts its Adult Book Club Friday, 12:30–2 p.m. Heads up that the Montrose main branch is closed Saturday — it reopens Sunday 1–5 p.m., and Naturita is open Friday and Saturday 9 a.m.–6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

**Look ahead:** The Common Ground Music & Arts Festival lands Aug 28–30 at the Montrose Rotary Amphitheater — free, three days, supporting youth programs across Western Colorado. Friday the 28th also brings the rescheduled Fourth of July fireworks, so plan on a crowd.

### GARFIELD COUNTY

Two Rivers Park is the whole story this weekend. The Terrapin Roadshow is in town for two days, and Sunday's show picked up Bill Payne from Little Feat.

**Saturday, August 22**

- **Terrapin Roadshow** — Two Rivers Park, 740 Devereux Rd, Glenwood Springs. Doors 4 p.m., show 5 p.m. Grahame Lesh, Bill Nershi, Kyle Hollingsworth, Ross James, Elliott Peck and Mark Levy, plus guests. $81 general, $45 kids 6–16, $151 VIP.
- **Music on the Mountain: The Petty Nicks Experience** — Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park, 51000 Two Rivers Plaza Rd, 7 p.m. Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks, up on the mountain.
- **Sunlight Showdown 10K Trail Race** — Sunlight Mountain Resort, 10901 County Road 117\. 9 a.m. start; bib pickup closes at 8:45, so don't cut it close. Taste of Sunlight runs at the resort the same day if you'd rather eat than run.

**Sunday, August 23**

- **Terrapin Roadshow, Day 2** — Two Rivers Park. Doors 1 p.m., show 2 p.m. Bill Payne, founding member of Little Feat, joins the lineup for this one.

*Quiet in Rifle this weekend — the Visit Rifle calendar shows nothing scheduled Aug 21–23.*

**Look ahead:** Third Thursday on Third returns to downtown Rifle next month.

### DELTA COUNTY
