Montrose residents interested in serving on City Council have until 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, to apply for the District IV seat left vacant by Dave Frank’s resignation.

The city announced the application process Tuesday, Sept. 15\. Council members will interview candidates at their Oct. 5 work session and vote to appoint a replacement at the regular council meeting Oct. 6.

## Who can apply

Applicants must have lived in District IV for at least 12 consecutive months before the appointment date and must be eligible to register to vote, according to the city’s announcement.

To be considered, residents must complete an application and submit a letter of interest to City Council. Application materials and additional details are available on the [city’s City Council webpage](https://www.cityofmontrose.org/CityCouncil?ref=westernslopetrellis.com).

The residency requirement is specific to District IV. Residents considering an application should confirm that their address falls within the district.

## Interviews and appointment in October

Frank resigned Sept. 7\. According to the city, the City Charter requires council to appoint a replacement within 30 days. The scheduled Oct. 6 vote falls within that window.

The application deadline comes nearly two weeks before the interviews, so interested residents need to submit their materials by Sept. 23 to be considered.

Questions about eligibility or the application process can be directed to the City Clerk’s Office at [cityclerk@ci.montrose.co.us](mailto:cityclerk@ci.montrose.co.us) or 970-240-1422\. Residents can also visit City Hall at 400 East Main Street, open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
