Between August 24 and 30, most local government bodies in Mesa, Montrose, and Garfield counties are taking a breather. Because it is the fourth week of the month, regular meetings for city councils and school boards are largely off the calendar. However, the Mesa County commissioners are gearing up for a major Tuesday morning hearing dominated by massive airport funding.

### Mesa County Commissioners' Major Tuesday Hearing

The busiest event of the week is the Mesa County Board of County Commissioners’ administrative hearing on Tuesday, August 25 at 9:00 a.m. The meeting is accessible in person at the Old Courthouse or via Zoom, and the board will tackle several high-value items:

- **$19.1 Million in FAA Grants:** The board will review massive funding packages for the Grand Junction Regional Airport, including $13.2 million for runway replacement transitions, $5 million to rehabilitate the FAA contact tower, and over $854,000 for navigational aids.
- **Property Sale:** Commissioners will vote on a contract amendment to sell a county-owned property at 905 23 Road for $549,900 to 5A Enterprises LLC.
- **Flood Mitigation:** The agenda includes a $344,167 grant application to fulfill the local match requirement for the Douglas Wash Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant.
